THE DAY THE BOOK CHARACTERS ESCAPED! 

Questions to think about: 

• Can you figure out the book characters in the mystical forest? 

• Who is your favourite book character? 

• I wonder what they are doing in the mystical forest? 

• Who lives in the house? 

• What might they say? 

• How did they come across the house ? 

If you were to write a story about any of these characters (maybe it is more than one of them), I wonder what you would include? Well, your BIG WRITE task today, is to do just that. Write a story with one or more of these characters. 

Think about the story mountain has it got a clear beginning, middle and end. 

Remember, your BIG WRITE environment is super special:

• clear all distractions; turn the tv off and head away from brothers and sisters for a bit
• find somewhere comfy to sit or lay on your tummy
• play a little relaxing music softly in the background
• maybe your home has a diffuser, incense sticks, or a scented candle that an adult can set up somewhere safely for you - this really helps to set the mood in the classroom 
• start a timer; 35 minutes was our YR/1 target in Aspen and Larch Class at school - what will your goal be?
