Safeguarding

Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all our Churchill children is of paramount importance to us; being and feeling safe and secure is a pre-requisite for thriving in childhood. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

• We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support children, families and staff at school.

• We ensure that all staff receive appropriate training, guidance and support to undertake the effective safeguarding of children.

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leaders Mrs Jax, Mrs Hendy and Mrs Carter are also able to support with any safeguarding concerns that you may have.

Parents and carers send their children to school each day with the expectation that the school provides a safe and secure environment in which their children can flourish. We, therefore, have to ensure that this expectation becomes reality. In order to achieve this, a wide range of measures are put into place:

• High-quality regular training, information and updates for all staff and volunteers
• Online Safety and Acceptable Use Policies for IT
• Behaviour and Anti-bullying Policies
• Attendance monitoring
• Child Protection Policy and Procedures
• First Aid and Medicine Policies and Procedures
• Risk assessment and risk management
• Management of 'Health and Safety' relating to the buildings and grounds
• Site security
• Educating children about how to stay safe through our PSHE programme
• Sex and relationships education

The Governing Board keep all safeguarding policies under regular review. They ensure the Head Teacher provides termly updates on safeguarding as part of her report to Governors. The Governing Board appoints a named Governor for Child Protection and Looked After Children.

Kent Safeguarding Children Board

The Kent Safeguarding Children Board (KSCB) is a partnership of all the different organisations working to protect children and young people across the county. Their website brings together information for children, young people and their families and the professionals who work with them.
