Beech Class

Welcome to Beech Class

Our teachers are Mrs Oldfield and Mrs Andrews along with our HLTA, Mrs Yates.

In Year 2 we begin using cursive handwriting. We have a list of 'Must-Haves' that we use each lesson to remind us of what we need to include in our written work.

We will be learning to read and spell the Year 2 common exception words.  You can find a list of these words in the document below.

This Year we will be reading a range of different text types, including picture books, fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Below is a recommended book list for Year 2 for you to explore and enjoy. How many can you read? Which book is your favourite and why?

Our Class Story is:

We follow the White Rose scheme in Maths. Please see below a knowledge organiser for each of the units, which outline the Year 2 coverage.

As in all units, pupils develop physical, social, emotional and thinking whole child objectives.

Pupils are learning to move in time to music, complete spins, steps sequences, plan movements, and careful feet and arm placement.

Pupils are developing the skills that they learnt last term, continuing with invasion games, learning to read a game, tactics, accuracy of throwing , teamwork and building resilience.
