Week 8 Thoughts and Feelings
Over the course of this week, we would like you to complete this thoughts and feelings pack to prepare for our return to school next Monday (whoop!) You should consider how you are feeling and also the different strategies advised to regulate your emotions. Please carefully consider what you'd like to write on your 'things I'd like to tell my teacher' sheet as we would like you to bring these in with you next week if you can.
Week 5 -Expressing Ourselves
Following a big chat with one of our lovely 3/4 children last week, I wanted to start off Children's Mental Health Week by thinking about how we can use poetry to express ourselves. I'm sure many of you are aware that just a couple of weeks ago in the United States of America, there was a ceremony called an inauguration. This is when Joe Biden was sworn in, which means that he officially became the next President of the United States.
Like many people across the world, I watched this ceremony and was really inspired by many different things - including Kamala Harris being the first female, African American and Asian American Vice President! But it didn't end there! I was completely in awe and lost for words (almost, but Mrs Jones does like a chat) by the amazing poem written and recited by the youngest Poet Laureate called Amanda Gorman.
Amanda Gorman really expressed how she was feeling in response to recent events in the USA, reflecting on these and then sharing her vision for the future.
This is one of the joys of poetry as it really allows you to express how you might be feeling and helps give voice to your inner thoughts and feelings that are sometimes difficult to speak about.
Week 4 - Special People and Relationships
This week we are going to be exploring what makes a relationship happy and healthy.
Have a look at the PowerPoint below then please have a go at the activities.
Week 3
Over the past year, we have heard the term Key Workers a lot and celebrated how these people have kept the country going during the coronavirus pandemic.
One type of Key Worker who we have been really grateful for is NURSES! They have been on the frontline fighting this horrible virus...but what does a nurse actually do?
The text below is called 'A Day in the Life of a Nurse' and explains a nurses general day-to-day duties. There are two activities for you to choose between: a comprehension or dictionary research - you could pick one, or you could complete both.
Week 2
Mind is a charity who support and offer guidance to people who may be struggling with their mental health. Because many people are finding things a little trickier than usual at the moment, Mind have designed a wellbeing challenge for children to encourage you to think about what makes you calm, what is good about you, what you appreciate, what we can do to be kind and what good deeds we can undertake to share our kindness with others. We’d like you to give this a go this week – you will hopefully really enjoy the activities.
