Welcome to Marvellous Maple!
Maple Class is made up of Reception and Year 1 pupils at Churchill Primary School…
We currently have 29 pupils; 17 Reception age and 12 Year 1 who are led by a staff team of Class Teacher, Mrs A Jax
and Teaching Assistants, Mrs Webber, Mrs Warner and Miss Davies.
Our classroom is designed for the children to be independent in accessing activities and equipment, with space for quiet and shared sessions, as well as use of a rapidly developing outdoor learning environment. Our indoor and outdoor ‘learning zones’ encompass resources for the areas of learning in the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum’, and each includes equipment designed to challenge children with National Curriculum stimulus.
We are a very friendly and outgoing class with a keen interest in exploration and every day brings a fresh challenge which we can’t wait to meet. We are lucky enough to experience our very own 'forest school' twice a week; set in the school’s own woodland, these sessions enhance both academic and social interactions and bring alive learning in a way unrivalled by closed classrooms. We are about to embark on an exciting regeneration of the forest - watch this space for more info on projects ahead.
2018 delivered us 'Winston's Den', a fantastic new outdoor area, and now in 2020 we are deeply involved in environment transformation once again. Watch out for fresh growth both outside and in with the birth of our third classroom, the ‘Observatory’. This multi-purpose space is already providing us with an extra teaching hub, and will hopefully evolve further to offer a destination for scientific enquiry and large-scale creative exploits. Huge thanks go to all those families and local businesses who have contributed to these awesome projects already – tools at the ready please, new fun and games are on the horizon!
