OPAL Play

Why Are We Looking At Play At Churchill?

In the UK, primary school children spend about 20% (or 1.4 years) of their time in school outside actively playing, making play the most dominant element of the curriculum. Research shows that play contributes to children's physical and emotional health, wellbeing, approach to learning and enjoyment of school. (With thanks to OPAL)

We are determined to ensure that our children are able to gain maximum benefit and enjoyment from positive playtimes and for them to the return to the classroom happy, focused and ready to learn.

OPAL Project

We are working with OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) to radically change and develop our playtime offer to all children. OPAL will provide support and mentoring to guide us through this experience, sharing their vast experience and knowledge and ensuring that we get this right for our children.
