Our four houses are named after four local cathedrals; Canterbury, Rochester, Southwark and Westminster.
On joining the school, each child is allocated to a house where they will stay for the duration of their time at Churchill. Where possible, siblings are placed in the same house.
House Points are accrued across the year for great work and great behaviour, as well as earned by each house for participation and success in inter-house events. House points can also be lost for unwanted behaviours. Each week the House with the highest house point total for that week is awarded the house ribbons and a star is added to their display board. At the end of each seasonal term and at the end of the year, the house with the most stars on their board is declared the winner of the relevant house cup.
Competition between houses is fierce, with each house striving to out-do the others. Houses build a sense of belonging, teamwork and collective responsibility. They also provide our older pupils with opportunities to lead, organising their house in house meetings, sports events and by encouraging younger children's participation in events and house point earning.
On a blustery day at the end of March, the four houses battled it out, testing their netball skills against one another to decide the house netball champions. The results were as follows:
1st Rochester – 400 points
2nd Westminster – 300 points
3rd Southwark – 200 points
4th Canterbury – 100 points
