Term 2

Term 2

We have loved welcoming all of our new "Willows" into school and getting to know both them and their families. They have settled beautifully into school life and have loved exploring their new environment and making lots of new friends.

Our topic this term is "Where do squirrels hide their nuts?", which looks lots at seasonal changes and how this impacts both plants and animals. We will spend lots of time in our own woodland area looking at the changes over time.

In Physical Development this term we will be starting simple ball skills including throwing, catching and dribbling using both hands and feet. We will also be continuing our Write Dance adding extra movements throughout the term.

In phonics this term we will be continuing to work on Phase 2 sounds and starting to introduce Phase 3 sounds. We will use these sounds to constructs words and sentences, as well as to read simple words.

In Maths we will be continuing to consolidate our numbers to ten and using these to count, match, add and subtract. We will be introducing lots of new vocabulary relating to weight, height, position, time, money and capacity. We are also learning lots about shapes and patterns.

Keep an eye on our webpage for updates about what we are doing, school events and information about how to support your child in their learning.
