Rowan Class

Welcome to Rowan Class page! We are a mixed class of Reception and Year One children and we love learning and exploring together, following our own interests and finding out about things that excite and challenge us. Our teacher is Mrs C. Jones and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Weston. Our classroom is happy and friendly; we care for each other and support one another every day. Our indoor environment is designed for us to be independent learners who can access all of our resources and equipment. We are rapidly building on a fantastic outdoor classroom, ensuring the transformation creates an exciting environment that enables us to explore with our friends, develop independence, and grow up to be resilient and collaborative learners, ready for our journey through school-life.

Our Class Reps are Mrs Clover (Year 1) Mrs Hall (Reception).

Keep and eye on our page to see all of the exciting things we are getting up to...

School Closure Homework - 20th November 2019

We have been reading Flat Stanley at story time. Stanley Lambchop wakes one morning to find a notice-board has dropped on him in the night, leaving him happy and healthy, but only a few 2 cm thick. It's a little unusual , but he finds he can fly like a kite, be sent on holiday through the post and can use his special new skills to catch art thieves.

Year 1:

English - Make a list of the positive and negative aspects of being flat like Stanley.

Science - Stanley piles books on top of himself at one point in the story. Can you make a "flat" person using different materials (e.g. paper, card, fabric, newspaper, foil) and test their strength.

Maths - Flat Stanley is as flat like a 2D shape, and his brother Arthur is 'round' like a 3D shape (see below). Take photographs and label the 2D and 3D shapes you can find in your house.

Art - Stanley doesn't like the Shepherdess disguise that Mr. Dart chose for him. Could you design a new one?

Year R:

Literacy Writing/ EAD - Draw or paint Flat Stanley. Can you add 3 adjectives (describing words) to describe Stanley?

Maths -Space, Shape and Measure - Stanley is flat like a 2D shape. Go on a 2D Shape Hunt. You could make a list or take photographs and label the objects you find. Challenge yourself to find a 2D circle, square, rectangle, or even an oval!
