T3: Funny Faces & Fabulous Features

Are you ready to become an artist? Are you ready to develop some skills? Are you ready to pull some funny faces in the mirror?

What is Art?

Art is a funny subject as there is no right or wrong. You can be as creative as you like and let your body and emotions take over, as you explore your worlds - imaginary or not. In your drawings, paintings and models we can express what we see in the world. Art work sometimes tells a story or shows us what might be going on in the Artist's head. It provides the viewers with pictures in their head which are all different. Everyone has different images and opinions on our work as we all view things differently.

Art is a relaxing subject even though it requires you to concentrate and focus. Discussing work is a way of digging deeper into the artists' thoughts and making connections (sort of like clues) to see if you can put the puzzle together. Asking questions is the key to knowing and understanding art work and how the artist may have come to produce that piece.

In this topic we will be exploring different elements of portraits:

  • Exploring portraits
  • Funny faces
  • Exploring colour
  • Creating collages

What you might need!

  • Folder or something to keep your work safe
  • Vocabulary book to keep key words in
  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Crayons
  • Paint
  • Colouring pens
  • Chalk
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Don't panic if you haven't got these mediums (different materials to draw with) as you can just use pencils or whatever you have in your home - pictures are still effective even just with a pencil!

So, jump on that creative train and set your imagination free!

The most important thing is to have fun, especially with pulling lots of silly and ridiculous faces in the mirror!

We can't wait to see what you get up to. Upload your photos to Dojo and we can share them in our Gallery heart
