Reading

Please continue to read daily at home. Remember, reading to your child is an important as listening to them read to you!

If you read a particularly good book, it would be great if you could write a short book review about it to recommend it to your classmates! Here are some questions you could answer about it:

What was the book about?                  What was your favourite part?

Who was your favourite character?       Who else do you think would like the book?

You could even draw a picture showing your favourite part!

Please work your way through the reading comprehensions below at your own pace. Whilst the children's phonics knowledge underpins their ability to read effectively, it is also really important that they get meaning from a written text. A major goal of reading comprehension instruction, therefore, is to help the children develop the knowledge, skills, and experiences they must have if they are to become competent and enthusiastic readers.
