Welcome back to Term 3! Although this isn't how we were expecting to start our term together, we will continue to do our fantastic learning but from home for now.

 

In Wrens, we have a few different groups to make sure that we are all receiving the learning that we need. Therefore, the children who are usually supported by Mrs Jenkins have a separate folder for their learning, as do the children that are given different work by me during the lesson. If your child is unsure about which group they are in, please don't hesitate to message me on Class Dojo so that I can clarify.

Add two 2-digit numbers - crossing 10

Friday 8th January

 

Today, you will be generating your own questions to help you practice adding and subtracting with tens and ones. 

 

You will need:

a pencil

a piece of paper

a dice (ideally 1-9 using a virtual dice or a standard 1-6 dice would work as well)

a calculator 

 

Please watch the video carefully as it will explain the activity and show you what you should be doing. 

Complete the activity, making sure that you take at least 6 goes.

 

Upload a photo of your work onto Dojo so that Mrs Kelly can see how you got on with the activity.

Today, you will be using base 10 (tens and ones) to help you add 2-digit numbers with no exchanges. You will also be looking at the column method to show you an abstract way of presenting your calculations. 

 

Please do your Flashback and mark it using the PowerPoint.

 

Then work through the Powerpoint. You will need to have a scrap piece of paper (or the back of your worksheet) to help you answer some questions I have given you as part of the learning. Make sure that you look carefully at the examples, then try to do the "You try" questions independently.

 

After you have read through the lesson, you have some independent learning to do on worksheets. I have also uploaded the answers so that you can mark your own work at the end.
